I went to the Three Crowns pub (formerly known as Bar Lorca) on Stoke Newington to catch up with Vanessa, my French friend who's just come back from Colombia where she’d been working on her most recent project, a documental of the last days of Pablo Escobar (the infamous Colombian drug lord).
At the beginning I thought she hadn’t picked up the right place to meet up simply because I hated the Lorca, a dirty hole, even though it is quite convenient for both of us due the location.
Anyway, once there, I came across with a quite different atmosphere, it was nicely decorated and full of spacious and confortable couches. As usual I had a couple of pints of Staropramen and enjoyed talking about politics with someone who's been deeply immersed studying the drug-traffic phenomenon and obviously has an unbiased point of view of our local affairs.
The only negative thing I found was the food, ridiculously pricey, therefore I suggested her to go somewhere else for a bite to eat cause I was starving. As I knew the area -I lived on Stoke Newinton when I first came to London for almost a year- I thought that a cheap and tasty alternative would be having a kebab in the best Turkish kebab, my favourite place in town for such sort of food so we ended up in a bench in front of a local pub devouring it. I must admit that had been dying for one of those kebabs for quite a long time.
Overall it was a great night, such a great surprise the pub, the drinks and the food.
