Matthias Church, Budapest

Went to see the Formula 1 in Budapest (End of July/Beginning of August), and had the chance to wonder around with a couple of friends.
I loved the character of the city, it reminded me somehow Istambul, full of colours, textures and chaos.
I took loads of pictures but only uploaded few to my Flickr account, and this is probably one of the most beautiful you will find in the Budapest set, it's the rooftop of one of the churches (located at the top of one of the three hills in Buda).
Top place!

Bowling in Bricklane

Have not been bowling for ages, but last week we had such a fantastic afternoon at All Star Lanes in Bricklane. The place itself reminds a 60's American place with well presented American fast food and a wide variety of cocktails. A good laugh... :)

Midsummer Madness Ride

On 21st June, Maria, Panos, Zicos and me took part on a bicycle ride along some of the main London spots. The main purpose was to see the sunrise of the longest day of the year, but unfortunately the weather did not help much as it was very cloudy.

Wednesday Night (26/03/08)

Tedious, the only adjective which comes up to mind when describing the Brazil vs Sweden match... the Emirates fantastic though!

Monday night (17/03/08)

Camilo has been playing table tennis since he was 16 y/o, he participated in several local tournaments back in Colombian and has followed some big stars of this sport for years. He invited me to the Dunlop’s Table Tennis Championship at the Royal Albert Hall without knowing that some of the top players would be there. In fact, the biggest fish of this sport, Jan-Ove Waldner, also played though with no much success as he was eliminated in the quarter finals. In any case, it was very entertained and we had a great time in this magnificent venue.

Run Panos Run

My friend Panos is to run the London Marathon this year and this post is just a way to support him -hope he does not mind me publishing his picture. Well, in fact, I would like to do it once in my life but have not found the appropriate moment yet.
Please visit his justgiving page at: Run Panos Run in order to support this noble cause.

PS. Will be by the finish line cheering him up with my pom poms to get a beer he has promised.

Tour de France

With so many things happening in the UK this weekend, it is very hard to keep up with them, especially when one has got a tight schedule. I wanted to go to Wimbledon, as it has been strongly recommended by many people, but could not make it as the weather was miserable at the beginning of the week. The F1 came to Silverstone this weekend as well, but to be completely honest it is something that doesn’t lure me that much. Life Earth took place on Wembley on Saturday and seems that it was such a big thing as it was everywhere in the news. However, the main attraction this weekend was the Tour de France, which for the very first time was passing by London. What a colourful and glamorous event, all the people were exited seen the cyclists, even though it just took them a couple of minutes. The weather was fantastic so we ended up going to the East with Ale and Lucho, where we had some drinks and a Sunday roast in one of these marvellous pubs.
From the pictures, the ciclysts, the caravan, St Katharine's Docs and the street by the Prospect of Whitby.

Gumball 3000

Luis gave me a bell yesterday to let me know the Gumball 3000 was to start from the Pall Mall in the afternoon. This is some sort of a glamorous rally which crosses the whole world round, the participants drive luxurious cars and obviously as can be expected is full of TV stars, models and nice people. Here some of the pictures, Jamiroquai in yellow, a black Lamborghini, the babes and a Pagani Zonda F. Super cool!

Alegria

Went to see Cirque du Soleil's Alegria last month and frankly it does deserve its good reputation.

First of all they performed in the Royal Albert Hall, what a fantastic venue for this sort of events, where coincidentally takes place a scene of Hitchcock’s The man who knew too much, which I had seen before I went to the show.

Although it was freezing to death on that very night, once inside you feel relieve and what’s more excited for the oncoming event. The music, the stage, the lights were just perfect and the connection with the audience total, contrastingly to what I had read on a local newspaper where it was criticised the coldness of the show -never understand critics anyway.

Remember telling the friend I went with that some of the characters -those who look creepy, like the Master of ceremonies- are a vague representation of the traditional circus and perhaps it is the way Cirque du Soleil condemn the use of animals and other techniques used by the decadent old-fashioned ones.

I did enjoy it overall, though was expecting a bit more from the flying acrobats or aerialists. The clowns were to laugh to death, the two Mongolian contortionists mind-blowing, the hula dancer so beautiful and skilful, what a sweet voice of the singer...

Look forward to seeing more, hopefully soon!
